You can put your trip on hold and come back later to finish booking.

24-hour hold

On select American Airlines flights, you can hold your trip for free up to 24 hours if you book at least 7 days before departure.

Here’s how:

• Choose your flights and select 'Hold for 24 hours' on the 'Review and pay' page
  • If you’re using travel credits or seat coupons, reapply them when you return to pay
• Check your confirmation email or go to 'Your trips' to complete your booking and payment
• Your trip will cancel automatically if you don’t finish booking within 24 hours

If you added trip insurance, it won’t be saved during the hold. You’ll have the option to add it again when you return to pay, but the price may be different.

You may only hold one trip per destination and timeframe. We’ll cancel any duplicate holds.
